In November, we will award, for FREE … 12 FEATURE SPOTS on our HOMEPAGE ROLL to the artists or art companies that impress us the most with their International Artist Day CELEBRATION ART.
Thousands upon thousands of artists each year have helped celebrate International :: ARTIST DAY by creating incredible works of CELEBRATION ART to mark our October 25th events.
Here are a few you can quickly flip through using the + & >
United Arab Emirates have celebrated International Artist Day since 2013
Accomplished Art Masters, as well as NEW Artists, plus highly respected art communities like Cirque de Soleil also celebrate with us!
Even NON-ART companies like Häagen-Dazs ice cream have created iAD pieces in the past to help us celebrate.
EVERYONE uses art in some form or another, and as such, community-oriented companies feel compelled to recognize the artists in their midst who help them connect with the world. It’s an unselfish nod to the arts, and it makes us happy that we inspire this type of pay-it-forward karma.
Our raison d’être at iAD;
Celebrate the contributions artists make to society!
We reached out individually to hundreds and hundreds of artists last year to say thank you, and quickly discovered that we had to do it in a more cost-effective way. iAD might look big, but we’re just two working artists and a handful of loyal volunteers. Due to the insanely increased volume of iAD CELEBRATION ART in 2020, we created this video to acknowledge artists and art-related companies!
Each year at this time we ask ART LOVERS to do something ESPECIALLY NICE for artists.
For example, purchase or commission one of their art pieces, by a ticket for a live show, take an artist to lunch, or for a drink to celebrate. This year it’s even easier with NFT or Digital Art–if that’s how you roll.
Do something to show your appreciation for all the good that artists bring to society! Artists do a lot of great things to bolster our mental health and make us happy. Their unconscious minds, laid open and vulnerable are oceans of creativity they explore to help us explain ourselves to ourselves.
Artists turn dreams into reality.
We’ve never directly asked anyone to create these thousands of very cool iAD celebration moments in art. Artists in our community do it of their own volition to genuinely recognize the moment.
In 2019, pre-pandemic, more artists and art companies created International :: ARTIST DAY CELEBRATION pieces than in all of our history–since 2004 when we launched. This year, during pandemic lock-down, so many artists reached out to us for help we spent most of our time sourcing and directing artists to Covid-funding and support services–the emotional impact was overwhelming.
2020 was challenging for everyone.
NFT HYPE created a lot of false hope that we had to try and explain to a lot of very scared artists. I’m an early-adopter NFT artist and a strong proponent, but it was brutal this year watching the emotional toll on artists who were unfairly made to feel excluded–young and old alike. It was polarizing and the exact opposite of community.
The crypto-trading industry knew exactly when and how to pounce to manipulate artists’ emotions, and they did, mercilessly.
Like many others, we were, and in some respects still are struggling as a result of NFT rising on the back of the pandemic. In retrospect there was a lot of sacrifice-by-the-masses for the few who did well. NFT quickly brought an end to ethical obligations like full disclosure and transparency. Anonymity is leveraged by sales-hacks posing as artists to “shitpost” and create rancor and division.
With great wealth comes great responsibility. We’ll see.
This year on October 25th, we are going to look at all the International :: ARTIST DAY CELEBRATION art pieces you create and send us, and award TWELVE artists and/or art companies a spot on our homepage as a THANK YOU! You’ll have a SHOWCASE SPOT to tell the world about your art projects. We’ll give you space for 750 words–edited by us to match our style, plus display three pieces of your imagery (one being your CELEBRATION 2021 piece), and your bio with links to your web spaces. Your iAD spot will initially be featured on our HOMEPAGE ROLL. It will then move to an appropriate section and remain on our website indefinitely so you can send it to friends, colleagues, and anyone you like.
The rules are simple:
Create an International :: ARTIST DAY CELEBRATION 2021 piece in any size or format you prefer, 2d, 3d, literary, video, ani-GIF or NFT, etc., and then make sure you tweet to let us know where we can see it online.
You MUST include in your celebration art, the line;
Happy International :: ARTIST DAY
(note that it is one “s” – artist)
You can also incorporate our original iAD logo, see below, but it’s not required.
To qualify, all you have to do is FOLLOW US on TWITTER and use #iADCelebrationART , plus the tag @IntlArtistDay to introduce yourself and your art!
DMs and reaching out any other way will disqualify you – sorry. Spam us and we’ll disqualify and block you-not sorry.
Make sure your tweet includes a link to where your iAD CELEBRATION ART resides. We’ll look at the feed ONLY until Oct 25, 2021, and then shortly after we’ll announce the 12 Works of CELEBRATION Art we’ll feature.
*Family, friends, staff, volunteers, clients and affiliates of iAD will not be considered for the twelve spots.
DEADLINE for YOU : OCTOBER 25, 2021 at midnight PST
If you don’t make the TOP 12, we’ll still tweet appropriate iAD Celebration artwork as long as it meets our ethical standards, and that it does not break any laws or rights, or is harmful or hurtful to others. It’s a CELEBRATION of ARTISTS, not a time for nasty art or negative social statements.
We all look forward to see what you create to celebrate artists this year!
P.S. You might also want to take a look at another iAD virtual event we have in the pipe this year; KARMIC SWAG is another way you can win recognition and a presence on our homepage.
Thanks kindly for your past, present and future support!
