Have you ever burned a C-Note – a $100 USD Benjie? … No?
Wanna watch as 100 Artists light one up under a NFT banner of social equality and reform?
I’m a member of the brand new Not Art Club, an innovative group of international artists who in part are sending a message that the global monetary system is in need of radical change … watch our video teaser!
Radical might be too strong a word for our group though–we’re more like social conveners, as opposed to anarchists. We’re also from a wide variety of economic backgrounds, and have considerably different life, art, and business experiences.
Today, our NOT ART message is about money and how it impacts us individually and collectively. On the next NAC project, we’ll address a different social issue
$100 USD represents something different in different countries. In Vancouver, Canada, near where I live, $100 doesn’t buy much, but in other parts of the world it can have a big impact on an artist and their family.
100 of us fell together to literally and metaphorically illustrate the challenges inherent in the global monetary system. We live all over the world and are artists in different capacities. Some of us create art full-time, while others are working towards that end. Some too, are happy to create absolutely free of any form or agenda. We also have many different perspectives about fiat and crypto because of our social experiences and surroundings.
We don’t agree on everything, but we do believe that something has to change regarding banking and investing, and that the change has to come from within–be the change you want to see.
We’ve individually produced 100 separate pieces of art, and combined them into a single NFT GENESIS piece titled, The Last Bell It will be sold at auction with each artist receiving 1% of the net profit. Some of the images are static, and others animated, but they are all incredible works of art. Each artist also gets to sell their respective NFT piece on their own terms and keep the spoils.
My animated contribution to The Last Bell is titled … fore
fore is a reflection of the special challenge that children and women have respective of the banking system – especially SINGLE MOTHERS! Banks are designed to generate as much profit as possible–credit card rates and banking fees ring that bell loud and clear! The profit centric philosophy that banks wield so expertly, harms impoverished sectors of society beyond fairness and reason.
“ fore “ means …
FIAT IS ABOUT TO GET BEANED!
You can take that meme to the bank!
According to Democracy Watch, “Canada’s Big 6 Banks reported still high profits in 2020 totalling (sic) $41.13 billion, just $5.1 billion (12%) less than in 2019 (BMO – $5.1B; CIBC – $3.8B ; National – $2.08; RBC – $11.4B; Scotiabank – $6.85B; TD – $11.9B).The Big 6 had record profits of more than $46 billion in 2019 – the 10th year in a row, and more than double their 2010 profits.”
DW also reported that “Canada’s big banks also paid their CEOs about $12.5 million each in 2019 in salary and bonuses (55% higher than in 2008).”
Our NAC group is incredibly diverse in artistic style, with some pieces looking like they jumped out of a GAME console, and others looking like they could hang at the Louvre, or be part of the @Metapurse Collection. All the pieces are beautiful, with some serious, some humorous, and some both.
International Artist Day has celebrated the contributions artists make to society since 2004. It’s our manifesto since day one, so this project feels like a good fit.
We are all basically just everyday citizen artists who are tired of inequality. We want to make noise so that everyone who feels the same way, knows that they are not alone. And that together, we can create art that creates change, just like the protest days of the 70s–except now virtually and with global reach … peace
The LAST BELL countdown is on, and in a few weeks, we’ll see what people really think about cryptocurrencies and NFT, and whether an improved and decentralized monetary structure can make a difference in societies around the world. Are GEEK GODS right about crypto and blockchain? Let’s hope so.
