Most artists shy away from, and even shun politics.
Most of us understand why too, but if artists are ever to claim their rightful place in society, we need to change how we think, before we can effectively change how the world thinks.
Artists of all styles, from beginner, to accomplished museum cohort are finally starting to appreciate the real influence we have over society–although musicians and actors have known it for a very long time.
As writers, graphic artists, and imagineers, we are the link that provides context, transparency, and empathy.
Politicians, war mongers, CEOs, et al … literally, cannot do anything in the communications realm without artists, yet artists still succumb to their often hurtful wishes and rants against society. Artists have the power to change the world for the good, but unfortunately, too many are waiting for someone else to tell us how to do it. It’s time for artists to Do It Right!
Subservience is hurtful to society. It is time, we, as independent artists with free thinking minds, the most free in the universe, stake more of a personal claim in artistic, intellectual, and political freedom and democracy.
Today is our time to shine!
