Dance is defined by more than just movement.
It’s an exploration of concepts that characterize fine art.
Dance and visual art have always had a symbiotic relationship, so much so that Pablo Picasso and Fernand Léger designed sets for ballets. Museums and galleries also borrowed from the skills of choreographers like Trisha Brown and Lucinda Childs.
Visual artists created new choreographic forms dating back to 1920. Dancer Valentine de Saint-Point’s highly imaginative performances strongly influenced other Futurist artists.
